Ever notice that wherever Erik goes, he's always somewhere?
See where he is and what he's up to there in his Twitter feed over in the sidebar on the right.

Here's a slideshow from Sunday: pictures of Janice's pretty roses and a pretty picture of Janice and our little cousin Rachel.

It felt like we had a thunderstorm every day for the first two weeks of July. I loved it for three reasons.
1) Free Water
The garden got watered for free with no effort on my part.
2) Rainbows
Here's one I spied in Meriden.
3) Lots of post-storm raindrops for a digital macro-obsessed photographer
Here are some on our lupines and snap peas.

In May, Andy took a bunch of us to Sun One Organic Farm in Bethlehem to lend Farmer Bob some hands and work on our farmer's tans. I learned how to plant beans, weeded a lot of garlic, had a great lunch at Farmer Bob's super-efficient house, and met some nice folks.
I learned so much about growing veggies that day, but that didn't deter me from being fascinated by wildflowers. Of course, I took several digital macro photos. I just...can't...stop.

Here I am again with the slightest bit of free time. We drove from Saint-Brieuc last night to the city of Nantes. We got in rather late after a long drive and a long day. We were up early this morning but got the call that the power trucks had not gotten up and running so we had a leisurely brekkie and then walked to the very long narrow line of TV trucks set up between the finish line and a river. Work went fairly well and we got out in time to take a nice stroll back to the hotel with some day light since the sun doesn't set here until about 10:30 which is kind of freaky. Check out the place we stumbled upon on our stroll home!

You may have seen this photo before. It's been circulating for a couple of years. When I see stuff like this, I can't help but wonder: what is going on in this picture?
Let me set the scene for you. Erik and I were visiting Grandma and Grandpa in Gloucester when we heard a thump on the living room window. Grandpa went outside to investigate.
The rest of us followed. It was a stunned, but alive, juvenile robin that had crashed into the glass.

Our Rhododendrons were really nice this year. They produced tons of blossoms as well as a lot of new foliage.
I took too many photos, of course, but forced myself to edit ruthlessly and put only four in the garden album.

We had some time to walk around before heading in for our first day
of work today. I like this pic I snapped of an old church/cathedral
in the center of town.
Tomorrow I'm up at 7:00 to head over and begin digitizing all our pre edited materials and all the specialty elements that we'll use in our daily edits starting Saturday.

I'm here!!! Had a whirlwind travel day and got to talk to a lot of interesting folks in my travels thus far.
I got to ride in our rental car with an absolutely nutty dude name Bob Roll. If you click on that link you can get the gist of what he might be like in person. I kind of wish I had read it prior to meeting him, but at the same time it may have ruined the surprise. He drives like and absolute maniac which is totally awesome! In the thick Paris traffic it's an absolute must to have a guy like him at the wheel. It's a lot like an R rated amusement park ride if you can imagine such a thing! He is constantly chattering as he weaves in and out of traffic, berating anyone or anything that gets in his way. We made what could have been a five hour trip more like 4, but the entertainment factor made seem even quicker!!!
I'm off to take a walk around the lake here in Ploermel and then head into work to start setting things up. Our race coverage begins on Saturday at 8:30am EDT.
Adieu!

Before my mother and step-father moved away from Ashburnham a couple of years ago, I asked Erik and Craig to take a walk with me in the woods behind the house.

The first time I saw our house, six years and six weeks ago, I fell in love with the Irises.
I probably should have been paying attention to other things, like pipes and insulation and whether or not the windows opened and closed. But I loved the Irises. They smell like grape candy.
