Here I am again with the slightest bit of free time. We drove from Saint-Brieuc last night to the city of Nantes. We got in rather late after a long drive and a long day. We were up early this morning but got the call that the power trucks had not gotten up and running so we had a leisurely brekkie and then walked to the very long narrow line of TV trucks set up between the finish line and a river. Work went fairly well and we got out in time to take a nice stroll back to the hotel with some day light since the sun doesn't set here until about 10:30 which is kind of freaky. Check out the place we stumbled upon on our stroll home!

We had some time to walk around before heading in for our first day
of work today. I like this pic I snapped of an old church/cathedral
in the center of town.
Tomorrow I'm up at 7:00 to head over and begin digitizing all our pre edited materials and all the specialty elements that we'll use in our daily edits starting Saturday.

I'm here!!! Had a whirlwind travel day and got to talk to a lot of interesting folks in my travels thus far.
I got to ride in our rental car with an absolutely nutty dude name Bob Roll. If you click on that link you can get the gist of what he might be like in person. I kind of wish I had read it prior to meeting him, but at the same time it may have ruined the surprise. He drives like and absolute maniac which is totally awesome! In the thick Paris traffic it's an absolute must to have a guy like him at the wheel. It's a lot like an R rated amusement park ride if you can imagine such a thing! He is constantly chattering as he weaves in and out of traffic, berating anyone or anything that gets in his way. We made what could have been a five hour trip more like 4, but the entertainment factor made seem even quicker!!!
I'm off to take a walk around the lake here in Ploermel and then head into work to start setting things up. Our race coverage begins on Saturday at 8:30am EDT.
Adieu!

I feel like there should be a Batman ride here and the place run by six flags with a name like Great American Ballpark! The concesion stands have huge American pretzels! I'm talking humvee huge!!! Even better though is that they have veggie dogs!!! I don't know if they are completly vegan but the one I ate tasted darn good slathered in spicy brown mustard and piled with fresh onions from a fancy machine that you operate to dice fresh onion on demand. Being the Stanley Cup Final and all, a lot of old time greats that have graced the sport are very visible this weekend. I saw Don Cherry with his whacky sense of fashion entering the arena prior to game time.

In February, we traveled to Burlington with a bunch of friends and stayed in a house on Lake Champlain. Erik and I looked out for Champ, the monster who lives in the lake.
Doesn't this look like the head of a lake monster? Could this be Champ?
Erik wasn't too concerned.
We visited the Magic Hat Brewing Company and everyone enjoyed the generous sampling policy and picked up some growlers.
Afterwards, we had lunch at the Vermont Pub & Brewery and we had the worst case of just-can't-settle-this-check ever. I highly recommend going to lunch before trying all those free samples.
See the rest of our Burlington photos in the album.

Chris Osgood had a solid night in net earning a shutout leading the
Wings to an entertaining game 1 victory over the stunned Pittsburgh
Penguins. Final score Red Wings 4 Penguins not.

I had a a quick conversation with Gordie Howe today. It went something like this. "Excuse me. Could I get a picture." Mr. Hockey said "No, he wont let me" gesturing toward some other large man with a camera. "That's where he's taking me right now. For a picture." he said. "Thanks." I said and then I moped back out to my edit suite only to realize that I had just had a conversation with a living hockey legend.
